We have recently been offered a unique opportunity by an anonymous donor. This individual, a loyal supporter and periodic volunteer at the Pantry has offered a “matching fund” program. This individual will match on a dollar-for-dollar basis each donation that we receive in 2011 that exceeds the average of donations received over the past three years.
You may ask why we need to raise additional funds. Our actual food purchases bill for 2010 totaled $23,574 and this does not include other operating expenses such as utilities, insurance and general administrative costs. So, you can see why we are so excited about this very generous offer of matching funds. Your financial donations during this fund-raiser will greatly enhance our ability to provide additional types of nutrition to those of our neighbors in need of some food assistance.
