The Nelson County Pantry held its Christmas Distribution on Saturday, December 18, 2010. It was a very busy day as Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus (Tom & Pam Harvey) were there to visit with the children as their parents picked up all the groceries for their Christmas dinner. An Elf (Sarah Burrell) donated her toys to help Santa make sure no one was forgotten.
Every family received a ham along with fresh potatoes, onions, carrots, cabbage, apples and the supplemental canned and dry goods to help them through the month. Hunters for the Hungry and a local hunter donated more than 900 pounds of venison. The Nelson County High School and Middle School collected more than 2,500 lbs. of canned goods and a number of businesses and churches held food drives to help our Nelson County Neighbors in Need.
Many volunteers, young and old, came to out to help. It was a great day with the warm spirit of giving.
A special thank you to our financial benefactors as well as those who faithfully give their time. Without YOU, this mission would not be possible!!
Wishing Everyone a Wonderful Christmas and a Very Healthy and Happy New Year!!!
