So far this summer, the Nelson County Pantry has received fresh produce from a local nursery, the Society of St. Andrews and the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Cabbage, potatoes, carrots, onions and apples have been donated and distributed to our clients. The walk-in refrigerator unit donated last year by Bo Delk has given the Pantry the opportunity to store this produce. The local nursery also donated hundreds of tomato and herb plants for our clients to try to grow their own.
This month the Society of St. Andrews hopes to provide a watermelon to each household. Preparations are being made to harvest and deliver them to the Pantry before the next Distribution Day!!
Thank you to the faithful volunteers who come to help stock, pack and distribute all the food even when it is so very hot. May the Lord bless you richly!!
