Postal Food Drive 2014

Postal Food Drive 2014

The National Association of Letter Carriers conducted its 22nd Annual “STAMP OUT HUNGER” Food Drive on Saturday, May 10, 2014.  This is the Nation’s largest, single day food drive. Our Nelson County letter carriers once again went above and beyond the call of duty and our residents helped to make sure our neighbors have enough to eat.  Here are the results:

Afton                     –  1,767.90 lbs.
Arrington               –     204.23 lbs.
Faber/Schuyler     –     544.35 lbs.
Gladstone             –       60.30 lbs.
Lovingston            –  1,012.90 lbs.
Montebello            –       64.70 lbs.
Nellysford              –     670.11 lbs.
Piney River            –      66.20 lbs.
Roseland               –  1,202.65 lbs.
Shipman               –      687.64 lbs.
Wingina                 –       68.20 lbs.

A total of 6,349.18 pounds of food was collected from our Post Offices. Volunteers began working late Saturday afternoon and resuming again early on Monday morning visiting all of our Nelson County Post Offices to collect the food donations, bring them to the Pantry facility, unload, weigh, unpack and begin the unimaginable task of sorting and stocking all that food.

Again, to our Nelson County residents, letter carriers and Pantry volunteers, a BIG THANK YOU for making this year’s Postal Food Drive such a BIG SUCCESS!!!

Thank you for caring for our

Nelson County Neighbors in Need!
