The Nelson County Pantry had a very busy 2009.  More than 2,600 bags of groceries containing over 145,600 pounds of food were distributed to  our neighbors in need in Nelson County.  That is almost 73 tons of food!  Can you imagine?    The addition of the new walk-in refrigerator/freezer unit donated by “Bo” Delk and installed by Mike Gray made it possible to receive 11,000 pounds of fresh produce from the Society of St. Andrews and the Local Food Hub and 1,500 pounds of venison from Hunters for the Hungry.

Our financial benefactors include the Catholic Diocese of Richmond,  the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, the Presbytery of the James, many local churches and our faithful private donors.  Without their help, the Pantry would not be able to continue this mission.

Volunteers donated more than 2,600 hours of their time in 2009 to keep the Pantry operating efficiently.

A special thank you to everyone who contributed financially or with their time to help the Nelson County Pantry make a difference in our beautiful County.

Thank you for caring!
